I'm pleased to announce that my first single is officially out!!! This link will allow you to play it off whatever streaming platform you like best: https://distribute.avid.com/smartlink.cfm?MTAwMDAwMzE5MDUx
For a little background about the track; it's my take on a Duke Ellington standard inspired by Don Ellis' 1967 "Turkish Bath." The melody is played in 3 parallel quartertones giving it that Eastern flare. The first solo is done on my electrophonic quartertone trumpet, the second solo is me on synth with some assistance from a reverb guitar pedal. The last chorus before the head is me whistling and Josh killing it on drums. Finally there's a mysterious cadenza that leads up to the exciting ending!
I want to thank my parents Daniel Wilson and Susan Combs Wilson for pushing me and helping me to see my goal come to fruition. I want to thank Aric Schneller for all his help during my college career that got me to the point I'm at today. Finally I want to thank Joshua Ferrell for his awesome drum work on the track!
The name of the band is New Dawn as an homage to my inspiration, Don Ellis. Unfortunately, there are other artists with the same name so if you go to click on my artist profile it will appear as though I have other songs out. I'm still in the process of changing this so that I have my own artist profile but for the time being, just know that MY New Dawn only has the debut track, Turkish Caravan.
Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy!
